Vintage Wooden Handled Bottle Opener
Underneath the top piece of this 70 year-old opener, the name EDLUND CO. is stamped into the metal. Below that, the patent date "Nov. 7-33", and "Made in U.S.A." is stamped. The total length of the opener is 4 1/2 inches and the handle is slightly more than 3/4 inches at its widest point, making it easy to handle and use. The red paint makes this opener stand out. There is hardly any wear on the paint. It is minimally rubbed in a small section near the ends of the handle. There are no scratches, gouges, or splits in the wood. The metal part of the opener is very firmly attached to the wooden handle, making the opener very functional yet today. There is some rust and/or corrosive discoloration on the metal part, but all the wording is quite visible with the exception of the "Pa" of the word patent and the "M" in the word Made. This is probably due from the wear that's occured from opening many longnecks as the opener spent many years in a deer hunting cabin in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. | ||||||||||||
