MSRP: $89.95 Made in the USA Features The design team for the new Thomson 31.8 stems had a tough goal: make a stem better than the Thomson Elite Road stems. Early tests showed that competitors’ 31.8 stems were heavier and weaker than Thomson Elite 26.0 stems. At Thomson the new stems were not done until they were stronger, lighter and longer lived than the legendary Thomson Elite. The new Thomson X2 for Road allows you to realize the benefits of stiffer forks and stiffer 31.8 bars. They offer precise steering, tracking, and more control while riding, all wrapped up in a beautiful design. The X2 features a lighter, 2-bolt handlebar clamp that was originally conceived as a road-only design. In testing we found that the 2-bolt handlebar clamp, with its patent-pending interlocking faceplate, is strong enough for mountain bike use, despite being 50 grams lighter than the Thomson Elite 26.0. The X2 is ride tuned for the road to eliminate harshness, and has a narrow front end that allows for easier use of aero bars. The Elite X2 is a breakthrough stem and will be a classic.
