We are offering the original artwork, "Villa at Montefiridolfi." It is currently valued at between $2,400 and $2,800 (verifiable at the gallery listed below.)This piece and its provenance are guaranteed. Purchased from the Rice/Polak Gallery in Provincetown, MA. (Check authenticity and value verification with this gallery.)Vermont artist Mallory Lake uses the landscape as her subject matter. Although she has created pastels of other locales, Italy is truly her muse. She prefers the regions of Tuscany, Umbria and Emilia Romagna, but has also worked extensively in the area around Venice and Lake Como on the Swiss/Italian border. Her primary focus is the interplay of light and shadow on the architecture and landscape to create a sense of drama and mystery.Rarely is an artist fortunate enough to have their subject matter and their materials form so compatible a union as in Mallory Lake’s pastels. Her landscapes give an accurate impression of what is ethereal about Italy - it’s light and effects on the senses - yet at the same time they are accurate portrayals of the places she paints.Mallory Lake’s pastel paintings are created using handmade Sennelier pastels from France on La Carte paper. Pastel, because it is pure pigment, has a richness, permanence and depth of color not found in any other medium. The paper is coated with vegetable fibers which give it a "tooth". This allows the extremely soft pastels to be built up in many layers and produces a rich and buttery surface. We are offering this original artwork framed (as seen).More about the artist:Mallory Lake - Curriculum Vitae 1 1950 Born: New Haven, CT EDUCATION 1970 AA, Lasell Junior College, Auburdale, MA SOLO EXHIBITIONS 2007 “Per amore dell ‘Italia”, Jenkins Johnson Gallery, San Francisco, CA 2006 “Reflecting Italy: New Pastels by Mallory Lake”, Pucker Gallery, Boston, MA “Mallory Lake: Into the Italian Dawn”, Martha Keats Gallery, Santa Fe, NM Bachelier Cardonsky Gallery, Kent, CT 2005 “Alone in Edan”, Kent Gallery, Key West, FL “Mallory Lake”, William Baczek Fine Arts, Northampton, MA 2004 Pucker Gallery, Boston, MA “Landscapes: Italy and New England”, Wm.
